Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I go from here?

Contact us to book in for an initial consultation, we’ll cover a full medical history, complete a postural and movement analysis and then together we’ll put together a plan of attack on how we can get you back performing better than ever.

I’m not an athlete, can I still work with you?

Of course you can! Phoenix Physiology is not exclusive to athletes. We work with everyone at any age.

Do I need to be injured to work with you?

Definitely not! Phoenix Physiology is for anyone looking to move effectively, train harder, be stronger and feel better, but do so safely with science backed programs.

I’m pregnant or just had a baby is working with you safe for me?

Definitely, providing your doctor says you’re clear to exercise! We use personalized exercise prescription to ensure we manage your exercise in the safest most controlled manner. If you’re not sure, give us a call for a complimentary 15min phone call.

I just had surgery, when can I start with you?

Your surgeon will give you an estimated time frame on when you can start movement based rehab post-surgery. In many cases it is usually within 4 weeks, as our training is completed under strict supervision, within a controlled environment we can start you back as soon as you are given the all clear.

What’s the difference between you and a Personal Trainer?

As Exercise Scientists, we have a University Degree in Exercise Science (Sports Science or Human Movements) including many hours of practical work within the allied health field. Our programs use science to enhance performance while simultaneously treating an injury or reducing the risk of future injuries.

Are you a physiotherapist?

No, physio’s are responsible for the diagnosis of an injury and they also do hands on manipulation for treatment. We provide the next step in your recovery, the exercise prescription to get you back moving and feeling better than ever.

What is exercise prescription?

Exercise prescription is the use of specific exercises to rehabilitate an injury or recover from pain.

My doctor said I should just rest for my pain, is this right?

Doctors are fantastic and rest is a crucial part of recovery, HOWEVER, many types of pain can actually be better managed and even cured by exercising and moving correctly. If you’re not sure, give us a call for a complimentary 15min phone call.

Do you do massage?

No, but we can show you how to release your muscles yourself using foam rollers, trigger balls or whatever you can get your hands on.

Can I claim treatment with Phoenix Physiology on my health fund?

Unfortunately not, however our prices reflect what you would expect to pay once you have been given your rebate (we’re actually cheaper than most).

Phoenix Physiology is adjoined to a gym, do I need to be a member to see you?

No you do not, it is beneficial to your recovery that you have access to a gym as you will be given “homework” to work on between sessions, but you don’t have to be a member of this gym.
